Whale Sharks: Gentle Giants of the Sea

Whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) are the largest fish in the ocean, reaching lengths of up to 12 meters or more. Despite their size, these slow-moving filter feeders are completely harmless to humans, feeding primarily on plankton, small fish, and squid. Found in warm, tropical waters—including around Sumbawa—they often cruise near the surface, making them a breathtaking sight for freedivers.

In Sumbawa, lucky divers might encounter these majestic creatures during seasonal migrations. While they are not a target for spearfishing, seeing one is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that highlights the richness of Indonesia’s marine biodiversity.

What To Expect ?

Day 1 - Bali Airport (DPS) – Sumbawa - The Palace Sumbawa - Labu Jambu Villages

06.00am Pick up from any hotel in Bali (Pick up time based on your Hotel location. (Ubud, Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Jimbaran, Uluwatu, etc)
07.30am Airport check in, Boarding pass flight direct From Bali Airport (DPS) – Sumbawa Airport (SWQ)
10.00am Heading at Sultan Kaharuddin Sumbawa Airport (SWQ) (loading to private vehicle (transportation)
Visit the Palace ( Sumbawa Traditional Biggest Wooden House build 1815 )
Lunch at Sumbawa Restaurant, Western Style / Local cuise
After lunch Road trip to Labu Jambu village about 2 hours driving
15.00 pm Check in at the Alfiah Hotel
Dinner is available at the Hotel with Local Dish.

Day 2 - Swimming with Whale Sharks - Sumbawa Town

04.00am Pick up at the hotel
04.30am embark to the whale shark Point by boat
06.00am (sunrise) heading at Whale Shark Point (Dive, swim, snorkeling with the Whale shark)
08.00am Light Breakfast will Serve on the Boat (Bread, and fresh fruit)
Compliment coffee, tea, hot chocolate
08.30am leave whale shark point
10.00am heading at the harbour labu jambu Harbour
11.00 Check out from Hotel
11.30am Return to Sumbawa besar
12.30pm stop for lunch
14.30pm Drop to Hotel and Check in.
